The early childhood years are crucial to educational success. They lay the foundation upon which all else is built. With this in mind VGS has selected the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) as the basis of its Elementary curriculum.
As well as developing languages, mathematics, cognitive and physical skills, the IB PYP Early Childhood programme emphasizes social growth. It also includes environmental studies, creative arts, music and dramatic play. It utilizes a wide range of teaching strategies to help children discover successful methods of learning and the academic and social aspects of learning are fully integrated. It is also a programme, which accommodates each child’s particular needs.
Within the IB PYP new activities are regularly introduced, and these relate to specific units of inquiry, which are selected to specifically match the interest and abilities of the children. Each unit addresses the core subjects and also offers a wide range of learning.
Opportunities for cooperation and creativity, Individual initiative and responsibility are encouraged on an ongoing basis.
We believe our PYP Early Year Programme offers an ideal preparation for progression through the Elementary School and beyond.
